Dear Customers and Friends,

This year marks the 30th anniversary of my winemaking career having started my first crush job at Mount Eden Vineyard in 1978.  Over that period I have witnessed many rewarding and memorable milestones.

Watching our Washington wine industry become a world renowned producing region, boasting over 500 wineries is certainly one of the most gratifying.  Having made many wines for more than a few wineries over the years, I can honestly say that the press we get is richly deserved, and darn it if our state’s wines don’t just keep getting better.

Being recognized by my peers on several occasions for contributing to the current success of our industry, including being chosen as last year’s Honorary Vintner at the 2007 Auction of Washington Wines, is something that I will always remember.

Now having created along with my partner and friend Mike Stevens,  Brian Carter Cellars, which is making European Style blended wines with many notable successes already apparent in this young enterprise, I feel like many of my life’s goals are coming to fruition.

Still there is one accomplishment that rises above all others.  It is one I started to receive many years ago, but never take for granted and it keeps me motivated everyday.  This is when one of you, whether a long time fan or new guest who is trying my wines for the first time, tastes the wine and enjoys it.  That simple act, enjoying wine, is what it is all about.  What really makes all the hard work worthwhile isn’t scores or plaques, it is when I hear from you that you love the wine. If my wine has brought pleasure into someone’s life then the 30 years of winemaking have been a success.

Thanks you all for the support you have given me and I hope you keep enjoying my wines.

Brian
